The Inn at Woodchuck Hill Farm is now offering an exclusive rental opportunity in Florida. Located on Manasota Key in Englewood on the Gulf Coast of Florida, the beach house is a fantastic place to escape the bitter cold and ice and snow of the far North while enjoying a piece of Florida that is reminiscent of the pre-boom past. The Gabriel's have been doing just this since the early 1950's. Why don't you give it a try?
Manasota Key is a barrier island seven miles in length but only 300' wide. The Key has only one road that runs the length of the Key from North to South. There are drawbridges at both ends to allow the boating traffic to cruise the Intercoastal Waterway and for residents to travel to the mainland should they ever choose to leave the beautiful beaches and warm waters of the Gulf. There are no traffic lights, high rise buildings or commercial development.
Restaurants, movie theatres, grocery stores and shopping are located a 15 minute drive away. Fishing, party boats and Jet Skis are available for rent at the Southern end of the Key. Stump Pass, a State nature preserve encompassing the entire Southern tip of the Key is a favorite place to explore and walk the beach collecting shark's teeth and shells. The closest commercial airport is located in Sarasota, 30 minutes to the North. Sarasota is the cultural mecca for the West coast of Florida with a wonderful downtown theatre district, an ongoing concert/event series at the bay side convention center and great museums and galleries. Dining and shopping opportunities abound in Sarasota as well.
The beach cottage is 1,000 sq. ft., directly on the private, quiet beach, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. There are palm trees and lush tropical foliage. The house is on a private, crushed shell drive with parking for two cars. The one-story house is walk-in with no steps or stairs. There is central heat and air conditioning, as well as ceiling fans in all the rooms. There is no telephone in the house. Cell phone reception is excellent. All floors are Mexican tile. There are two bedrooms, one with a Queen bed and the other with two Twin beds. There is also a Queen convertible couch in the living room. The living/dining room with its' walls of windows and a glass slider to the private patio, looks directly at the beach and Gulf of Mexico. There is a stereo/CD player and TV with cable and DVD player. The house also has wireless/high speed internet. There is one full bath with shower. There is a new washer/dryer. All linens are provided.
The newly renovated kitchen has new cabinets with granite countertops. Dishwasher, stove, microwave and refrigerator w/ ice maker are all new. There is a breakfast bar with stools, or enjoy your morning coffee at the picnic table on the patio watching the dolphins glide by, cutting through the Gulfs' mirrored surface. Outside there are also two showers and a gas grill. Following the obligatory grilled Red Snapper with a hot pepper sauce, it is customary to watch the colorful sunset unfold with a nice glass of wine, hoping to see the elusive "green flash". This activity may be shared with your neighbors if you choose.
The beach house is child friendly. We do not allow animals. There is no smoking. The maximum number of overnight guests is six.
